Sometimes I wonder what to write here

Sometimes I wonder what to write here. I know it has been nearly 6 weeks again and I was aiming to get it done every month, so here it is more than overdue! If I go through my notes, there are a few thoughts written down but they are already 4 weeks old, so what the heck I might sit my lazy arse down and get some lines down on digital paper!
Where to start….? Where did I stop last time? Fundraising for a suitable car, yeah right! Guess what, a week later somebody donated an old ambulance with hoist and everything! We were quite excited about that and it sounded to good to be true, but the car was supposedly in good condition and just needed a few batteries replaced for the hoist other than that it never missed a beat.
So since the car was 1.5hours north of Cairns we needed somebody to pick it up, but due to bad weather and some cyclones around the area it took two weeks to get up there! Once we got somebody up there to have a look at that bespoken car, it didn’t look that good. It needed to be jump started, than a fuel line broke, no aircon, back window broken, celling hanging down, no window lifters, bad tyres and who knows what else wouldn’t work. So it was decided to leave it where it was, since it wouldn’t be worth putting a lot of money in a 20 year old car… back to not having a wheelchair accessible car! :/
Than there was still a lot of paperwork to be organised. Not sure how often I went to centerlink in the last couple of weeks, only to find out that I am not eligible for a disability pension because I haven’t lived long enough as a permanent resident in this country.
I got told, by the time I am 36 I would qualify for one! Only I am not really planning to be without a job by the time turning that age. Saying that fighting through all this paperwork got me my health care card so I can get a descent concession on my TAFE cert III in IT starting in July. Finally we got a disabled parking permit so I can get these good car parks in front of stuff like the movies, shopping centres and Woolworth! Not to forget I can get anyone of you for free in the movies, festivals and music gigs as my companion 😛
Alright since the last post we got the carers organised and trained, so my other half Maree returned to work about 3 weeks ago. All this is a bit of a two sided sword, since we got everything running super smoothly in the last couple of months but on the other side it was hard work and it takes some pressure of her shoulders and I can get the carers to do our housework and most importantly my stretching and exercise routine every day of the week!
I am still struggling with chronically low blood pressure since the accident, which is one of my main issues holding me back and one of the reasons I have to use my electric chair with the tilt function most of the time. They haven’t kicked me out of Physio and OT yet and I am still running hard twice a week, there has been slow progress in upper body strength!
Both my triceps got more than 100% better than they were 2 month ago. My wrist flexion got stronger and movement in my hands got more fluent as well overall strength improved. I am able to dress myself, get my arse from the bed in my manual wheelchair and from there into my electric one, so that means quite a bit more independence right there.
So my main priority at the moment is looking into organising a standing frame and FES (functional electric stimulation) bike to start fighting my low blood pressure and the on setting of bone and muscle atrophy (about 20k for both devices). Even so that is quite a bit of coin I am convinced that will bring me a big step further in my mission to regain some more life quality. In the next couple of weeks I want to start Aquatheraphy again 2x a week and to recommence acupuncture weekly. That is it as far as my Rehab plans go at the moment.
We will be heading towards Innisfail on the 18th of April for a fundraiser organised by Valerie, so that is a good chance to catch up with a few people I have not seen for quite a while and hopefully we get some funds towards some equipment together.
Other than this, there is not much more left in my grey matter and I leave it with that!
All of you take care and much love from FNQ
Greetings Jonas

Dude I have a car for you its a 2004 holden commodore wagon I am in Canada and not looking like coming home in a hurry, its sitting out the front of my place in Burleigh heads on the Gold Coast and will only rust before I get there there is a crack in the windscreen but other than that it’s a good car and will do you well it’s registered for about 4 months will need a roadworthy cert to change over the ownership out of my name so the windscreen would need replacing, if someone in the area can grab the key it is in the back room and there are crew renting my place so all is accessible …
If this will work for you mate it’s yours just let me know
